Mandarin Strand – Global Competence, Interculturality and Social Emotional Learning in the Mandarin Class

This strand will focus on exploring critical issues related to social emotional learning. Participants will work collaboratively as they learn instructional strategies essential to preparing resilient 21st century global citizens with intercultural competence. The facilitators will share high-leverage teaching practices that integrate authentic resources to support the development of global competence.

Participants will acquire content knowledge, develop practical resources, and learn about effective teaching strategies that they can apply in their own classrooms. They will also be prepared to support their students to interact successfully in global contexts, to communicate effectively with people from various cultural backgrounds, to recognize diverse perspectives, and to take action toward building a more just and culturally responsive global society.
