Empowering the Chinese Classroom through Social Justice and Social-Emotional Learning
This strand will focus on exploring the California World Languages Standards and the California World Language Framework, as participants work collaboratively to develop instructional strategies essential to prepare resilient 21st century global citizens. Facilitators will share the ACTFL Six Core Practices featuring classroom best practices, the integration of authentic resources, and the incorporation of global competence, social emotional learning and social justice concepts into instruction. Participants will acquire content knowledge and practical resources that they can use in their Chinese-language classrooms that support their students to successfully interact in global contexts, to appropriately relate to and communicate with people from various cultural backgrounds, to recognize different perspectives and to be willing to take action to build a more just and culturally responsible global society.
