Marcando una Diferencia: The Spanish Class as a Critical Vehicle for Social Transformation
Participants in this strand will engage critically in what it means to become a globally competent individual, and to teach Spanish in California, with its economic and demographic landscape. This community of learners will engage in activities that connect the California World Languages Standards and Framework to concrete classroom examples. Social Justice, Identity, motivation, and teaching language in context are some of the topics that this strand will examine. Participants can expect to learn strategies, co-create materials, and bring back concrete activities to their classrooms. Spanish will be used throughout the sessions.
