Spanish Strand – Connect to the Heart, Connect to the World in the Spanish Class
The strand will review the core practices of the Spanish class (as a second language and-or for heritage learners) from a functional communication lens, giving priority to practical applications in the classroom. Participants will leave the strand with various strategies for building community in the classroom, enhancing classroom dialogue, and celebrating student progress. Participants will also be exposed to ways to promote student reflection on bilingualism and multiculturalism, designing critical thinking prompts/tasks, and incorporating civic engagement into the curriculum.
